Portal To Rosacea Information

Rosacea can also cause inflammation, redness, and irritation of the eyes.
Rosacea can be aggravated by sunlight, stress, allergies, alcohol, spicy foods and extremes in temperature.
Topical steroids (e.g., DesOwen, Westcort) at first calm rosacea symptoms but over time may destroy the skin and cause severe disfigurement: "a flaming red, scaling, papule-covered face".
Stress aggravates rosacea and acne.
Cigarette smoking aggravates rosacea and acne.
Alcohol dehydrates the body and provokes rosacea-related facial flushing (redness).
Lifestyle changes and healthy habits can greatly reduce the redness, papules, and other symptoms of rosacea. Recommended lifestyle changes:
Reduce stress.
Drink at least 8 eight-ounce glasses of water (2 liters) per day. Ten to twelve glasses (3 liters) per day is recommended. Water should be icy cold. The hypothalamus, the body's "thermostat" cannot properly regulate temperature (and prevent facial flushing) unless kept cool and supplied with adequate water. Water also hydrates the skin, preventing clogged pores.
Avoid stimulants such as coffee, tea, tobacco products and excessive sugar.
Avoid alcohol.
Avoid vigorous scrubbing, exfoliants, and other abrasives.
Use the right soap. Most soaps are too harsh for rosacea-afflicted skin.
Recognize and avoid foods and beverages which provoke a rosacea-related allergic reaction.
Avoid large meals; eat instead three small meals.
Exercise.
Avoid astringents and astringent soaps.
Change wash-cloths and body towels after each use.
Avoid the sun as much as possible. Sun exposure aggravates rosacea.

Rosacea-Ltd Is Effective

Rosacea-ltd is a work of genius! I cannot begin to fully express how effective it has been already only a few weeks after use. I was suffering from Rosacea on the sides of my nose with a horrible redness and dry look. I was not so confident about going in public without a cover-up make up. Now, I've never felt so great! I threw away that cover-up and began to be fully social again! Thank you rosacea-Ltd !!!!

The Solution To My Rosacea

I am throughly pleased with the rosacea ltd iii! I have been using it for only a few days and have noticed a marked improvement. And, what's more, my flaky dermatitis seems to be receeding as well! I can't say how glad I am that your product exists. Truthfully, I am rather shocked at the ignorance of my dermatologist who prescribed topical steroids and rosex...both of which did nothing but aggravate my condition and lead to more heartache. I will most certainly recommend your product to anyone who has this terrible skin condition.
Again, thank you. This experience has led me to a healthy skepticism of the pharmaceutical industry and the 'learned' opinions of dermatologists, (who, believe it or not, told me that there was no connection between diet and skin condition and that emouvate was a 'light' steroid!).

The Results Of My Rosacea Research

I have had rosacea for several years and had little to no success with any of the prescribed medication from visits to several dermatologists. I tried Metro-Cream, Tetracycline, etc with no success.
I began my own research and discovered a company called Bass and Boney, Inc. who manufactures a topical rosacea medication called "rosacea Limited." I encourage, actually implore, anyone struggling with this problem to visittheir web page at www.rosacea-ltd.com. This is by far the most effective treatment I have used. I often forget that I have rosacea at all. When I use it properly, virtually all of my symptoms vanish. The cost of treatment is very low as you will see when you visit their page.
I am in no way affiliated with this company or it's products, I saw your page and it's clear that you are sincere in striving to help people affected by this problem. I wish you much success in that effort. This product works.

Good Luck!

Jim

The Immune System As A Rosacea Trigger

Dr. Richard Gallo, associate professor of dermatology and pediatrics at the University of California - San Diego and Dr. Masamoto Murakami, postdoctoral scientist, Veterans Medical Research Center.

Whether certain proteins made by the immune system may trigger the onset of rosacea is the subject of continuing research sponsored by National Rosacea Society research grants. While acting to protect the body, the proteins also may trigger some of rosacea's symptoms, the researchers hypothesize.
"If this theory proves true -- that rosacea is in some way a disorder of the innate immune system -- then completely new therapeutic approaches can be developed to treat this disease," Dr. Gallo said.
The immune system, which is responsible for the body's ability to combat illness and infection, produces its own antibacterial agents that fight disease and heal wounds, Dr. Gallo said. These natural substances act by eliminating the presence of harmful bacteria and activating other parts of a complex immune reaction. Either irritation or infection may stimulate the production of these proteins, he noted.
Dr. Gallo's laboratory is investigating whether the immune system response, including the expression of a natural protein called a cathelicidin, may cause some of the signs and symptoms of rosacea.
In their initial study, Dr. Gallo and his colleagues found an abnormally high level of cathelicidins upon histopathological staining in the skin of patients with rosacea. They further noted that some hallmarks of rosacea, including inflammation and growth of blood vessels, are associated with cathelicidins.
In a second study, the researchers are now investigating whether the redness, inflammation and blood vessel growth of rosacea are a result of an abnormal expression of this natural antibiotic. Using immunohistochemistry and quantitative polymerase chain reactions, Dr. Gallo and his colleagues found that in rosacea the chronic production of cathelicidins appears to be ineffective in inhibiting the spread of bacteria, and may instead simply trigger rosacea's signs and symptoms.
The researchers plan to further test their hypothesis by examining the effect of cathelicidins in mice and on human blood cells. Publication of results: Yamasaki K, Barden A, Taylor K, Wong C, Ohtake T, Murakami M, Gallo RL. Expression and potential pathological role of cathelicidin expression in rosacea [abstract]. Rosacea's Etiology

The rosacea patient often has skin which is unusually sensitive to chemical and physical insults. All sources of topical irritations such as soaps, cleansers containing alcohol, astringents, abrasives and peeling exfoliates for removal of the rosacea skin must be avoided. It is surprising how many of these agents are found in some rosacea medications. One rosacea product which addresses these concerns of gentleness and effectiveness is Rosacea-Ltd which in addition to being gentle and effective at a low cost also provides a wealth of information that is available for the treatment of rosacea.

Of fascinating clinical interest is that the Rosacea-Ltd III medical inventors take advantage of the well established Sobye's Massage for rosacea. The mechanism of action is the accelerated lymphatic drainage with reduction of redness after the massage. Their use of the massage for lymphatic drainage with the cleansing of the face which is a two fold purpose. The recommendation is the use of a washcloth and soap which additionally cleans the skin as a large amount of rosacea sufferers have acne in addition to rosacea. After the brief 'washing massage' the skin returns to a more normal state with a continual reduction in redness as the massage helps in drainage of the lymphatic drainage. The gentle washcloth with cleaning massage is very mild in comparison to many rosacea acid treatments that exfoliate the skin, or steroids, retnoids, light laser treatments, or even shaving the beard. Additionally, the explanation the web site provides of the 'cause' and 'cure' of rosacea explores an interesting and insightful look at the etiology of rosacea and has being proven and substantiated by all that are serious in learning.

The Rosacea-Ltd web site explains their "rosacea pH balance diet." The diet is revolutionary in that it addresses the triggers that causes acne and rosacea with the "proper pH balance" of acids for mental and physical energy to get through the day and alkalines for calming and nourishing the body cells. This is the key factor that so many rosacea patients and dermatologist have been baffled with for years. The "rosacea pH balance diet" is included with each order.

Rosacea Treatment Can Be Frustrating

Many rosacea sufferers have been frustrated for many years with unsuccessful or marginal results from many rosacea skin care products. Antibiotics, retnoids, Accutane, and steroids have been a mainstay of rosacea treatment for years. Rosacea sufferers have noticed that these prescribed treatments and various rosacea laser treatments have not worked well as a rosacea skin care product; also these past treatments for rosacea may have caused additional damage to the sensitive rosacea skin. Oral and topical antibiotic rosacea treatments for adult acne rosacea can work for up to several months before the bacteria become immune to the antibiotic, causing the antibiotic to lose its effectiveness. Oral antibiotic treatment actually cause more rosacea red symptoms. For information on the latest FDA findings, see Bacterial Resistance to Antibiotics.

A Clear Picture Of Rosacea

To get a clear picture of rosacea, you may wish to start with a clinical definition of rosacea. Rosacea is a hereditary, chronic (long term) skin disorder that most often affects the nose, forehead, cheekbones, and chin (Dr. Berasques). Groups of tiny microvessels (arterioles, capillaries, and venules) close to the surface of the skin become dilated, resulting in blotchy red areas with small papules (a small, red solid elevated inflammatory skin lesion without pus, that is minor when the size is of a small measles lesion, moderate when about the size of a pencil eraser, and severe when the papule is the size of a small currency coin or the tip of the little finger) and pustules (pus-filled inflammatory bumps). The redness can come and go, but eventually it may become permanent. Furthermore, the skin tissue can swell and thicken and may be tender and sensitive to the touch. Note: Pustules are NOT pimples. Pimples have a bacterial component to their pathogenesis and are also mainly localized in and around the hair follicles. This implies that there can be no cure for rosacea or even an effective treatment for your rosacea and yet many have found ways to control their rosacea through effective treatment and lifestyle changes.
